Faith to Get By
by James Gaspard
All things happen as they will,
And no matter how hard you try
You can't change a thing.
Life can deal you nothing for a hand,
But sometimes nothing is a cool hand to have.
All the punches come quick,
And the relentless barrage knocks you down.
Get up! Stand, and stake your claim!
Everyone knows life is tough;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
When you're happy, enjoy it.
For it surely soon will be gone.
The dark recesses will not be beaten that easily;
No matter how hard you try,
It doesn't go away;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
Another person can be lost,
But don't dwell on the negative:
It hangs around as it will.
And when the preacher tells you
You have to beware, believe.
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
And when you're alone, don't cry;
Someone will be there.
Even if time isn't on your side,
Just wait; things change,
And the sun also rises,
Tomorrow.
As sure as this will happen, I know,
Everyone knows life is tough;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
Slow motorcade
Travelling to the stone garden,
Moving as snails to avoid time,
But never succeeding.
As you turn your lights on in
Reverence you wonder,
What is it all for?
Leave the thought alone.
Everyone knows life is tough;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
Wake up with dawn;
Shake the cobwebs from your head;
Brew some of that life blood;
Breathe life anew into these veins.
Turning wheels,
Grating under the stress of life,
Even sandpaper eventually loses its grit.
'Cause everyone knows life is tough;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
So wait on the corner,
And live knowing you've paid for your fare,
And when your ride comes,
Don't hesitate to get in.
The fantastic voyage has just begun;
Better times await the weary traveller.
Make up time lost in zones,
And forget the bumps...
The road crew has the day off.
Everyone knows life is tough;
You need a bus load of faith to get by.
