Abortion: My Choice, God's Grace:
Christian Women Tell Their Stories
Anne Eggobroten
Synopsis
|
After a foreword and introduction that place
abortion in comparative contexts, 13 Christian women (both Roman Catholic
and Protestant) write about their decision to abort; seven additional
chapters provide further testimonies, e.g., memories of seeing a pregnant
15-year-old in a coffin, stories of church-sanctioned rape, and the
editor's testimony to the importance of her being able to choose to birth
an unplanned pregnancy. A concluding chapter addresses the issue of
biblical support for choice. Related issues of violence toward women
receive moving but restrained attention. An important presentation of
facts and arguments that have often been silenced.
