In the story, Mama and Papa Mockingbird's son dies. They and their other children are so full of tears and sadness that they forget how to sing. Realizing she cannot bring her son back, but compelled to go in search of her song, Mama Mockingbird sets out on a journey to find her song. What she goes through in her search, and what she finds, is beautiful beyond words.
